Welding methods

April 21, 2017

Welding fabrication in Toronto is a process used to join metals by causing fusion. It can be done using different methods depending on the desired end product and also the manufacturer’s preference. Welding is one of the industries which have had a major breakthrough over the past few years due to the increase in demand for bound together materials. There’s always a need to create more, so here we are.

Stick welding

It is also known as shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) or electric welding. Here, an electrode with flux to guard the weld puddle is used. The electrode is held firm as it changes from its original solid state to liquid form. Atmospheric contaminations cannot happen as the puddle acts against it.

Gas metal arc welding

Here mix of argon and carbon dioxide gas are fed at adjustable flows and speed with the use of wire feeding gun. This method is also referred to as metal inert gas (MIG).

Flux-coded arc welding

This method of welding fabrication is done in the same way as gas metal arc welding. The only exception is that it’s done with a special tube which is flux filled. Also depending on the filler in place, it can be used with or without shielding gases.
